Cisco Bootcamp: January 8th to January 11th, 2007

The Information Systems and Internet Security (ISIS) Laboratory at Polytechnic University, Brooklyn is hosting a Cisco Systems-sponsored Security Bootcamp for faculty and staff. The program is designed to enhance an Information Assurance instructor's knowledge and professional development in the area of network and host security. College, university, and community college professors, instructors, and staff involved in Information Assurance instruction are invited to attend this free training program. The program consists of four days of extensive, lab-intensive, hands-on security exercises. Topics include router security, firewalls, virtual private networks and intrusion detection and protection. A typical course schedule:

Day 1 - General security topics (security policies, etc.), router security.

Day 2 - Configuring firewalls for secure outbound and inbound access, configuring advanced protocols and intrusion detection, using the firewall as a VPN gateway.

Day 3 - Configuring remote access VPNs, firewall VPNs, router VPNs.

Day 4 - Configuring intrusion detection sensors, configuring and customizing signatures, monitoring, and managing alarm data.

The Bootcamp will be conducted from Monday, January 8th until Thursday, January 11th in Rogers Hall 227. It will begin at 9AM and end at 5PM, and will include lunch and coffee breaks. Participants will have lunch on their own, and refreshments will be provided during coffee breaks.
