NSA Center of Excellence in Information Education, has received an NSF Federal Cyber Service: Scholarship for Service (SFS) grant that provides financial aid to students wishing to pursue advanced studies in the field of information assurance and security. The scholarship program was created in response to a presidential directive addressing security challenges facing the nation. Currently there are about a dozen of universities in the country, and Polytechnic Institute of NYU is the only university in the Tri-State Area, through which these scholarships are awarded.
Eligibility and Requirements: |
- Must be a US citizen.
- An undergraduate student two years from graduation from the point he or she starts receiving the scholarship.
- Anyone eligible for admission to a two-year Master's program at Polytechnic Institute of NYU.
- Must pursue an cyber security intensive program of study as approved by the executive director of the SFS program at Polytechnic Institute of NYU. This program will be consistent with any technical degree offered at Polytechnic Institute of NYU, such as computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering, but will have added emphasis in information assurance.
- Attend school on a full-time basis while receiving the SFS scholarship.
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 for BS students and 3.5 for MS students, while in the program.
- Successful applicant MUST work for two years at a federal, state, or city agency upon graduation.
- Meet selection criteria for federal employment: final job placement might require security clearances.
