I'm pursuing my master's degree at Poly in computer engineering, and will
graduate in May of 2007. I completed my bachelor's degree in electronics and
telecommunications in Mumbai, India (where I'm from), and have been interested
in science and engineering for as long as I can remember. It was only after
relocating to the U.S., however, that I was first exposed to the mystery-filled
world of information security, and it has held my interest ever since. Within
security, I'm specifically interested in risk management and analysis and
network monitoring.
In India, I completed a year-long internship at Hutchison Max Telecom. My
project involved some research in GSM, along with building an alarm system that
raised alerts in case of any infrastructural failure at the BTS sites. Here at
Poly, I worked on Nabs (Network Abuse Detection System) in its final stage, for
which I had to perform some system testing and write a manual. I'm currently doing an internship with the information security team at Goldman
Sachs, where I'm working on a threat and vulnerability management system and
building modules to increase its functionality. In my view, one of the great
things about New York is the fact that it has so many financial firms, which
require a large number of information security professionals. My interests outside of security include traveling and reading. Ayn Rand is my
favorite writer, and I think her books Atlas Shrugged, The
Fountainhead, and We the Living aptly capture human ambitions and
responses, as well as life's many challenges. In addition to Ayn Rand's books,
The Da Vinci Code is another one of my favorites. I believe that if we dare to dream, we have to do more than dare to make our
dreams come true. Back to People |
