I am a PhD candidate in the Electrical and Computer
Engineering Department at Polytechnic University. I was born in Izmir,
Turkey, and received my B.S. degree in industrial engineering from
Galatasaray University, Istanbul, and my M.S. degree in systems and control
engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, in 1998 and 2002,
respectively. After receiving my master's, I started my PhD studies in
control and automation engineering at Istanbul Technical University.
However, in 2003, I came to Poly and have been working with Professor Nasir
Memon since 2004 on security-related projects. My current research topics
include designing secure and reliable biometric-based authentication schemes
and applying signal-processing techniques and statistical tools to detecting
whether digital images and video have been tampered with.
I'm a sports fan
and love playing and watching soccer. I also enjoy skiing and playing
basketball, tennis, table tennis, and billiards (if I can find enough
people), and I play a little bit of guitar and mandolin.
